WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards

 

The WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards are held every two years, in connection with WITSA’s premier event; the World Congress on IT. The Awards program aims at identifying the most outstanding users of information and communications technology. The WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards are the center-piece of the WCIT evening program. Held every two years, the WCIT is covered by hundreds of local and international media representatives as well as approximately 2,000 senior level private and public sector delegates from around the world! 

 

The 2008 WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards were presented to six distinguished ICT users whose use of ICT has exhibited exceptional achievement within three broad categories: Public Sector Excellence, Private Sector Excellence, and Digital Opportunity (see link to press release and winners below). In addition, a Chairman's Award was presented to "The Smile of the Child", an organization which runs eight community homes in Greece that provide shelter to physically or sexually abused, abandoned, or neglected children. The Winners of the 2008 Awards were nominated by WITSA member ICT association executives and their corporate members from around the world. The 2008 WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards took take place in conjunction with the May 20, 2008 Gala Dinner at the 2008 World Congress on IT (WCIT 2008) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

 

Nominations for the WITSA ICT Excellence Awards are made by WITSA member associations.  The associations have autonomy in nominating and selecting the most qualified candidates in their respective country or region.  In order to nominate a candidate, the WITSA member association must:

The next WITSA Global ICT Awards will take place in connection with the May 25-27, 2010 World Congress on IT in Amsterdam (WCIT2010). It will take place in connection with the May 26 WCIT 2010 Gala Dinner. Nominations will be collected through our national member associations starting around October 2009.

 

The Center for Digital Government (CDG) works with WITSA to oversee the awards selection process. The CDG is a renowned research and advisory institute providing government, industry, and education leaders with decision support, research, and educational resources to help them effectively incorporate new technologies in the 21st century. 

 

The first WITSA Awards were held at the 2000 World Congress on IT, in Taipei. Additional information about these Awards is listed below.
