GIP Roundtable

Spam II Workshop – A Case Study of Private Sector Oversight

(Open to Forum Attendees)

The Global Internet Project (GIP; www.gip.org), an international group of senior executives committed to fostering continued growth of the Internet, will hold an open Roundtable on Internet spam at the Sheraton Waikiki from 10:00-11:45 am on January 14, 2003. The Roundtable will feature several leading minds on Internet policy and spam, including Vinton Cerf, Senior Vice President of Architecture and Technology at WorldCom, Inc., John Patrick, President of Attitude LLC,  Karl Jacob, CEO of Cloudmark, Orson Swindle, Commissioner at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and David Lassner, CIO of the University of Hawaii. The Roundtable will also include a broad discussion, covering more than a dozen leading experts on the subject.

The Roundtable, which is held in conjunction with the OECD Global Business Forum, is the second event on the subject of Internet spam hosted by the GIP. While there is no single solution to overcoming spam, presenters will demonstrate how Internet service providers, technology, industry and government can work together to effectively conquer the negative effects of Internet spam without resorting to unnecessary regulation. All Forum participants are welcome to this free event.
