KUCHING, Jan 18: Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), on behalf of the Sarawak government, has won the bid to host this year’s World Congress on Innovation and Technology (WCIT) 2023 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) from Oct 4 to 6.
SDEC said WCIT 2023, which is the first ever to be held in Kuching, will witness world leaders, policy makers, academics and digital communities from science, technology and the humanities coverage to discuss the digital age in the Borneo region.
WCIT 2023’s key theme is ‘Fulfilling The Promise of The Digital Age focusing on Innovation and Technology Driving Economic Prosperity, Social Inclusivity and Environmental Sustainability’.
This 27th instalment of WCIT will be a three-day event featuring more than 2,500 delegates, 80 countries and 200 speakers of the industry, government leaders and academics,” said SDEC in a statement today.
The conference includes discussions to debate the implications in technology advancement to legal, political and economic trends affecting IT business processes, presentations of innovative solutions from emerging, new and the latest technologies.
There will also be B2B and G2G meetings to identify and secure new investment opportunities for various industrial domains from healthcare, transport and logistics, defence, oil and gas to the finance sector.
The launching of WCIT 2023 logo and website was officiated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia earlier today.
Also present were SDEC chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani, World Innovation, Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) chairman Dr Sean Seah, WITSA chief executive officer Dato Dan E Khoo, The National Tech Association of Malaysia (PIKOM) chairman Ong Chin Seong, PIKOM chief executive officer Ong Kian Yew, as well as representatives from Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) and Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (SAINS). — DayakDaily
