TAIPEI, TAIWAN. August 19, 2025: The World Innovation, Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) officially kicks off its inaugural WITSA Global AI Summit 2025 today at the Grand Sheraton Taipei Hotel. The landmark event brings together more than 300 global leaders, innovators, and policymakers from over 36 economies to explore the transformative power of artificial intelligence in shaping a sustainable and prosperous future for all.
A key highlight of the opening ceremony is the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between WITSA and the Taiwan Innovative Software and Services Association (TISSA), with the intent to onboard Taiwan as WITSA’s Global AI Ecosystem Hub Partner. The summit also showcased the release of WITSA’s AI Action Framework, a strategic guide for the deployment of ethical, inclusive, and sustainable AI development espoused in the WITSA AI Declaration made at WCIT 2023.
"The inaugural WITSA Global AI Summit marks a pivotal moment for our global community, bringing together leaders from government, industry, academia, and research to harness AI’s potential for a sustainable and prosperous future," said Dato’ Dr. Sean Seah, Chairman of WITSA. "Taipei, a vibrant hub of technological advancement, provides the perfect backdrop for this event, and we are thrilled to partner with TISSA to establish Taiwan as a key hub in our Global AI Ecosystem Network."
The summit features a diverse program of keynotes, sessions, and will culminate in a gala dinner to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the WITSA Global Awards. The awards will honor outstanding contributions in technology and innovation from across the globe, with winners from countries as far away as Brazil and the United Kingdom.
Dr. Brian Shen, Chairman of TISSA, added, "It is an honor for Taiwan to be the first host to the WITSA Global AI Summit and a Founding Hub Partner of the WITSA Global AI Ecosystem Network. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with WITSA and its members to share our expertise and contribute to the development of a secure and inclusive digital future."
"Artificial Intelligence systems have advanced to the stage where they are not just passively executing instructions but proactively setting their own course within defined boundaries. It is important to explore at this summit how governments, industries and global networks can collaborate to create AI ecosystems that are open, resilient and inclusive, " said Dato’ Dan E. Khoo, CEO of WITSA. "Taipei’s rich technological ecosystem and Taiwan’s leadership in tech make it an ideal setting to showcase how AI can transform industries, enhance sustainability and improve lives globally."
Participants at the WITSA Global AI Summit will benefit from three key values: knowledge sharing, networking opportunities, and policy influence.
